VicePoint HUD with Dynamic Reticle and Hitmarker for GTA 5

This is a GTA 5 mod that overhauls the combat HUD with dynamic reticle and hitmarker behavior inspired by the GTA VI-style feedback seen in early previews. VicePoint changes how the crosshair and hit confirmation are shown so recoil response, accuracy feel, and hit readability stay fast and consistent during firefights.

• Weapon-class base reticles: Pistols use a minimalist tri-arm reticle (left, right, bottom bars with a hollow center), Shotguns use symmetrical curved brackets with tuned spacing, and Rifles/SMGs/MGs show a clean center dot that transitions into a compact circle when aiming, blooming outward upon firing
• Decoupled recoil vs accuracy feedback: every shot triggers an instant recoil kick with a smooth quadratic ease back to center, operating independently of hit confirmation
• Adaptive hit & kill overlays: Non-lethal hits show a universal white hollow partial X, lethal body kills switch to a yellow X overlay, and headshot/critical kills keep the crosshair clean with a red X overlay
• First-person scope handling: reticles remain visible during 3rd-person and standard 1st-person ADS, but seamlessly hide during high-magnification scope zoom (leaving only hitmarkers active)

VicePoint also includes a native fallback for weapons not yet covered by the GTA VI preview set (snipers, heavy launchers, throwables, melee). Those weapons smoothly retain GTA V’s original reticles to avoid odd visuals. Resolution independence is addressed through mathematical aspect-ratio correction, keeping circles and brackets perfectly proportional across 16:9, 21:9, and 32:9.

The project supports configuration through VicePoint.ini, including toggling vehicle behavior so crosshairs can be hidden while driving/idle or when unarmed inside vehicles, and dynamically activated when you actively aim (drive-by) with pistols or SMGs. As of v0.1.1, external dependencies were removed and the script runs standalone on GTA V Legacy, fixing silent script-loading issues. The long-term goal is to push VicePoint beyond reticles and hitmarkers toward a broader GTA VI-like combat feedback and wanted experience—within the technical limits of GTA 5.
